I am obese and desperately want to lose weight. I had an accident in July where I almost had to have my foot amputated and have been in a wheelchair ever since.
I have started a diet, but it is all so overwhelming. I have no willpower but I want it. I need to know anything about what to do when I want to overeat.
Being in this chair is stressing me out! I eat out of boredom or no lack of willpower.
I used to be very pretty and now I feel so fat and ugly. I feel like there is no use dieting because no one wants me anymore.
It's been 8 years since my last boyfriend and I'm lonely.
Does anyone have any advice? No predators please.
Thank you.

This works
Many are the ways via various methods of losing weight and each affect folks differently. A program which basically involves changing your life style will result in weight loss. It's a slow process but you stay with it and you can eat what you want. It's when and how to eat. What is good about this program is that you take this life style anywhere you go, anywhere, and on cruises. There is a website by which you can go and view the program by which you can enroll online, however there is a fee, of which I receive nothing but other than the pleasure of sharing a program that works. Having your weight based on your height and frame is healthier and you'll feel better about yourself and have a more positive outlook on life. In 10 weeks I lost 30lbs and 3inches in my waist....eating what I want. Don't know how to get this info to you however.

law of attraction
in basic terms it says that you get whatever energy you put out. wanting to change is the first step in changing your current situation. you will always get great and well intended advice on how to achieve your goals; however, only you know what works for you or not. in order to make this happen you need to change your frame of mind to help you in your quest, if you want something bad enough you will find a way to get it. also, consult a doctor about a prescription for Phendimetrazine or Phentermine. i lost 35 pounds in 3 months using these meds. the initial weight loss due to the medication gave me confidence to get moving and the positive thinking keeps me moving forward so that i don't go back and gain all the weight back. hope this works for you, it worked for me.

been there...doin that
i have had an accident as well, several, each time i got up, another knocked me down, I had to learn to walk again and was paralized for years from the upper back down, at 5'4" 117 lbs to begin with to 210 lbs...untill....several things changed...i still struggle.
one...don't stop struggling with it, don't stop hoping, if you do, you let it win. your user name suggests you are a God loving woman...continue to ask God to help you, continue to ask Him to send you someone to help you take off the bondage. Be SPECIFIC when you ask Him to heal you, +help you, and when God and/or His angels move, be ready to move as well. When He tells you to do something, DO IT, no matter how small, ...OR monumental.
Two... If you are in Utah, go to Utah Healing Rooms for prayer every other saturday, 830 to 1130 A.M. I think the 17th of Mar is the next one they are at 8211 West, 3500 South, in Magna, Utah in the Exodus Health Care offices
Three.... lean on God! He keeps some of us close to Him through our injuries, because we are otherwise rebellious., and we must lean on Him completely in our condition, He will give us that peace. I was still humanly alone, and very lonely, for 22 years, and had an exteremely chaotic and enslaved life, even though I was saved and involved in an effective minstry. I went through deliverance, took 2 +1/2 years so far, and what a difference! But still going thru change, steady and slow at times, accelerated at times, too, there was sooo much deterring me! I am a compulsive overeater, and have been anorexic in the past (hence the 117 lbs, which, at one point in time went DOWN to 81 lbs and episodes of comatose. my goal is 135 lbs + healthy
Fourth.... try overeaters anonymous, it works, it's free, and gives you a lot of support and help. It takes a little bit of searching to find the phone #, wherever you are, just start at the local AA, NA or 12-step hall, white pages, or try to look them up online google or ask jeeves "overeaters anonymous" they will help you categorize your foods to avoid at all costs- your "trigger" foods, trigger behaviors, moods, ect...its a permanent solution, and a good one. I have found that caffiene increases my pain, weight, and carings for sugar and "comfort' foods, which are death to me, as i am allegic to gluten, and also cannot digest refined sugars as a result of years of food abuse, medications and an accident where my intestines were pinned by a truck between my sternum and pelvis. this was after I had been injured and partially paralized, for nearly 10 years and had attained enough healing to just get back to work, and begin eating normally, instead of drinking strictly protein shakes. There i was, back at square 1 again....dont stop hoping, praying, moving around whatever part of your body you can, get rid of the t.v trash shows, get outside, see things, watch sunrises/sunsets/stars/ animals, enjoy your children/grandchildren/friends/knit, draw, paint, surround yourself with positive, motivated people, help others, ...and read the book of Proverbs...one each day corresponding to the day of the month, restart at the beginning of each month and go thru the whole year that way...you will be much wiser as the years go by...and thankful. He says to give thanks in ALL situations. Find something to be thankful of in your situation, you have time on your hands, just find it. what you fear will come to you DON'T be in fear.

two books to read for emotional support
I can't offer much additional help in the way of diet etc than the good tips above, but I can suggest two books that I recently read which inspire me in my own similar quest. The first, A Fat Girl's Guide to Life by Wendy Shanker, addresses a number of cultural issues surrounding obesity and gives you something to think about and is laugh out loud funny. The second, Our Lady of Weight Loss by Janice Taylor, describes the author's own quest and has a lot of funny suggestions about to make "art" with food rather than eating it. Finally, I gained a huge amount of weight while taking the antipsychotic Risperdal for depression. My doc switched me to Geodon, and after getting used to the side effects, I find my appetite is much more manageable (and my mood hugely improved). I have no medical training and I am not suggesting this medication in any professional way, but just wanted to note this in case you are on medications or for others reading this.

It's All Attitude.
I have much concern for Godluvnlady. I have been there through an auto accident. It's always easy to gain and hardest to lose. I switched to fruit. A big bowl of grapes is great. Even has an amount of sweetness to them. I was left with 5 permanently displaced discs. From my neck to my hips. Was seeing a chiro 1-2 times a month. Told for the rest of my life. I got to a point where I became extremely tired of slamming myself and looked for ways to snap out of all this. I got started on exercises relating to office work and long distance driving. Began doing the exercises daily. Then more than once a day. I found a natural healing agent that has done miracles for me. I got very involved with mangosteen fruit. What a difference it made. Is still making.

Hope this helps
I think your main problem might not be your weight. It might be that you nearly lost your foot that is really scary!
AND you are in a wheelchair. Of course you are unhappy this is a big shock to the system and you never expected it to happen to you!
Eating makes us happy, it is one of the joys of life.
By eating you may be trying to get happy again. This implies that you aren't feeling too great at the moment. Which isn't surprising since you had a pretty bad time recently.
I dont like to make suggestions to someone I never met about things which I dont know much about, but you asked for help and I think this might.
So I suggest you focus on finding things that make you happy, in particular, getting out of the chair!
If you can focus on that you might be able to find your purpose in life again and that will make you less likely to look for small doses of good cheer in eating.
If you dont think that would work you can always try something else that makes you happy

Don't go at it alone
Not feeling good about yourelf can make you want to shy away from others. Try as hard as you can to stay involved socially, with POSITIVE people. More importantly, if you can find one person in your life that can be there for you, that can be geniunely supportive, it will make your quest more bearable. Remember, most people struggle with their weight one way or another throughout their whole life, use all of the tools at your disposal. If you have not seen a doctor or a dietician yet, please do. They might not have all of the answers or the right ones, but it's a great place to start. Great advise from everyone. God bless.

5-HTP
5-HTP is a metabolite of tryptophan (the amino acid found in white meat of turkey) and is a precursor to serotonin which helps improve mood. Taking 5-HTP will improve mood so you don't need food as comfort as much, and serotonin receptors in digestive tract will help you feel full so you don't want second or third helpings. Comes in pill form as an extract of griffonia seeds so it is classified as an herbal. Check with doctor first, but I'm pretty sure side effects are very rare. Eat lots of fibre if you don't already to increase motility (speed food travels through digestive tract) and drink lots of ice water. It takes calories for the body to warm ice water up to body temperature. I'm not sure how much, but it should be straightforward to calculate. Exercise at least 3x per week. Do deep breathing exercises 20 min at least 4x per week. Weight train. Muscles metabolize nutrients faster than fat. Stop watching violence including news, crime shows, horror movies, newspapers, ads. They promote fear which makes you want to eat. It's a body defense making you want to store nutrients for a possible battle or flight. Good luck! Be patient with yourself. It's taken a while to gain, so you won't lose it overnight. I'm not a doctor, I struggle with gradual weight gain as I age. Cheers!

Easier said than done
Loosing weight is a tough job. Also if u cut on ur diet it will deprive u of many nutritional elements necessary for ur body. As far as overeating is concerned thats again no problem that can be controlled.
Some of my solutions are:
1. Overeat the fresh air.
2. Don't keep excess money in wallet so that u cant buy the junk food.
3. Most important "Keep Your HOME Clean n Tidy YOURSELF". (Put the stress on Yourself)
4. Don't seat at one place for long.
Ok so these are some of the tips. Try them and tell us about your experience.
Listen to HOMER's suggestions also.
Good Luck

Try Hypnotism
May sound hokey, but think about it this way. Most of your comments show that you feel out of control and are negative. Your mind is a very powerful thing. If you constantly tell yourself you can't, then you won't. If people can will themselves to die and others can use the power of prayer (another form of meditation, btw) to strengthen their resolve, then why is hypnosis looked at as hokey? Go to www.wendi.com and check out her site. She has some items for sale, true, but there are also lots of freebies and some links to her talk radio shows. If you get your mindset right, everything else just falls into place! Good luck!
